Brandon Bonine is a husband, dad, OCR enthusiast and business owner who enjoys traveling the US competing in obstacle course races. From a young age he competed in team sports and raced dirt bikes, which shaped him into a competitive athlete. Brandon started out as a runner and he didn't realize his passion for OCR until competing in his first race for fun with his wife in 2015. Since that first race, Brandon has challenged himself to become better through training and a commitment to the sport. He has accomplished many exciting goals since starting his OCR journey, including qualifying for and competing in the Spartan World Championships in 2016 and 2017, as well as placing in the top 20 in the NBC Spartan Series in 2017. Brandon has always had a passion for running and still enjoys competing in road and trail races.

What was your first obstacle race and why did you do it?
My first obstacle race was Gladiator Run in San Antonio. My wife had to convince me to do it as I was doing no running at the time and I thought it was crazy to go out and run all those miles. After that first race, I was hooked.
What drives you to compete?
I love competition. I want to be the best out there and that drives me to get better.
What interesting fact do most fans of OCR not know about you?
I owned my first business at the age of 20.
Who is one of the OCR athletes you admire most and why?
Ryan Atkins, because of his work ethic and drive to be one of the best athletes in the world at any racing distance.
If you hadn't found OCR, in what sport(s) would you be competing?
I would probably play Golf. I enjoy playing and used to play quite a bit until I found obstacle racing.
What are your goals with OCR?
My goals with OCR are to be the best athlete I can be and to get better everyday. I also want to help other people in the sport along the way.
